Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Work with training department to develop and provide safety training for employees, assuring that we are providing a safe and secure work environment.
  • Oversee the investigation of work‑related illness and injuries; investigating all accidents and assuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Champion Human Performance principles through training, tools, and event learning teams.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and HR to address safety concerns.
  • Assist with Worker’s Compensation claims for the plant.
  • Organize and facilitate employee Safety Committee.
  • Facilitate audits to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Responsible for plant security – communicate and direct plant security company.
Qualifications
  • BS degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental related discipline and 5+ years experience in EHS or related field
  • Certification preferred (CIH, CSP, and/or CHP)
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state‑specific regulations.
  • Experience with hazardous materials, air permits, and environmental reporting.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must be a team player that interacts effectively with co‑workers in group or in independent cooperative activities.
  • Ability to function under pressure and able to prioritise numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and work flexible hours as needed.
