An RN with specialized Cardiothoracic ICU experience is needed for an 8-bed Critical Care unit within a 30-bed ICU in Xenia, OH. This role focuses on managing complex post-op CABG and TAVR patients with critical devices such as Swan catheters, Impella, VAD, and IABP. The position requires a minimum of two years' CVICU experience, proficiency with EPIC charting, and the ability to handle ventilated patients on critical drips.
This is a 12-hour night shift opportunity, working every other weekend and every other holiday, wearing navy blue scrubs.
Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current RN license in compact state or Ohio
- Minimum 2 years CVICU experience with post-op cardiac surgical patients (CABG, TAVR)
- EKG competency required;
Swan catheter experience essential - EPIC electronic medical record proficiency
- Current ACLS certification within 6 months of hire; BLS preferred
- Experience with managing critical drips and ventilators
- Preferred certifications: CCRN, PCCN, TNCC, Trauma certifications, NIH Stroke Certification
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans for critically ill cardiac patients
- Manage life-supporting technologies including ventilators, Swan-Ganz catheters, IABP, Impella, CRRT
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care and act as communication liaison for patients and families
- Administer medications safely and titrate critical drips
- Advocate for patient safety and quality improvement within the unit
- Participate in continuous education and maintain current clinical competencies
- 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend and holiday
- High-acuity patient care with 1:1 to 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratios depending on patient condition
- Physically demanding: lifting, standing, manual dexterity, exposure to infectious materials, and occasional emergencies
