Position: Frame Fabricator / Pipe Welder Location: Xenia, OH

The company specializes in the design, manufacturing, and service of plates and gaskets for all makes and models of plate heat exchangers (PHE). These PHEs offer our clients high reliability of heat transfer, low capital investment and installation costs, reducing maintenance, operating costs, wear, and corrosion.

Job Summary

The Frame Fabricator II is responsible for performing advanced welding and fabrication tasks to produce high-quality welded components according to specifications. This position requires a higher level of skill and experience than Frame Fabricator I, including proficiency in multiple welding techniques and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to determine welding requirements.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding machines, and oxy-fuel cutting torches.
  • Perform welding tasks on a variety of metals and alloys, ensuring strong and durable welds.
  • Inspect welds and fabricated components to ensure they meet high-quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) such as visual inspections and use of testing equipment (if certified).
  • Make adjustments or repairs as needed to achieve desired weld quality and structural integrity.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow company policies and regulatory requirements related to welding operations and workplace safety.
  • Promote a culture of safety and participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Record welding parameters, production data, and inspection results accurately.
  • Complete work orders, inspection forms, and other documentation as required.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of welding materials and supplies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Frame Fabricator I and other junior fabricators as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, production team members, etc. to resolve issues and optimize processes.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues regarding work progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Obtain certifications as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in welding is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in welding or a related field, with proficiency in multiple welding processes.
  • Strong understanding of welding techniques, metallurgy, and blueprint reading.
  • Ability to perform welding tasks on various metals and alloys with high precision and quality.
  • Experience with welding equipment setup, operation, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, PPE usage, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) regularly.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to handle tools and machinery controls.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and stooping may be required.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions typical of a manufacturing environment.
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing/production floor environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machining fluids.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
  • Interaction with production team members, engineers, supervisors, and quality control personnel.
