Position SummaryThe Certified Nursing Assistant assists in the care of patients of all age groups under the direction and supervision of the licensed nurse.
Position Responsibilities- Consistently performs all procedures identified on the orientation checklist safely, efficiently and in a cost-effective manner.
- Organizes and completes work assignments by prioritizing identified patient needs based on plan of care in collaboration with the licensed nurse.
- Explains procedures to patient and/or significant other prior to implementation.
- Completes work assignments to keep the patient units, kitchen, supply rooms, treatment and utility rooms clean. Maintains a healthful environment by ensuring patients rooms and work areas are clean and tidy.
- Consistently makes patient rounds to identify and respond to patient needs and/or requests.
- Consistently recognizes emergency situations and takes appropriate action, while following safety related policies and procedures.
- Adheres to all safety and infection control policies and procedures.
- Reports accidents, errors and unusual incidents to the charge nurse, department director and/or house supervisor at the time of occurrence.
- Accurately documents Vital Signs and I & O data in the medical record according to policies and procedures.
- Communicates and maintains a courteous and professional manner in all interactions with public and hospital personnel.
Skills and Abilities
- Participates in the Improving Organizational Performance (IOP) Process.
- Performs job duties in a manner that supports service excellence and meets performance standards.
- Meets attendance requirements of absenteeism and lateness.
- Attends Mandatory in services.
- Adheres to hospital policies supporting patient rights.
- Participates in development and attainment of department and/or WCCH goals.
Reports any suspected violations of Corporate Compliance to an immediate Supervisor, Corporate Compliance Officer/Team or the Comply Line.
- HIPAA – Adheres to WCCH policies and procedures regarding privacy and security of health information.
- Works collaboratively to provide a safe environment for not only the patient, but staff and visitors.

QualificationsPosition Requirements:
Current CNA licensure by the Virginia Board of Nursing
Basic Life Support, or obtained within 30 days of hire.
High school diploma or Equivalent
