The Psychologist conducts psychological evaluations and assessments for individuals with serious mental illness (SMI), serious emotional disturbance (SED), substance use disorder (SUD), and developmental disability (DD) in outpatient settings. Responsibilities include participating in treatment planning, interdisciplinary meetings, and evaluation of clinical programming.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct psychological assessments, including intellectual, psychological, and personality tests, and prepare reports.
- Facilitate treatment team reviews and planning as requested.
- Prepare reports and testify in court as needed.
- Provide consultation and evaluation of clinical programs, and participate in community assessment and planning.
- Collaborate with treatment staff and external agencies regarding diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning.
- Provide training related to clinical practices.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Complete assessments and evaluations across clinical programs.
- Perform forensic evaluations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Thorough knowledge of current theories, principles, assessment techniques, and instruments related to psychological evaluation, including forensic assessments.
- Knowledge of individual therapy, counseling practices, and risk assessment for individuals with SMI, SED, SUD, and DD.
- Ability to establish clinical outcome measures across services.
- Effective interview, observation, assessment, and recommendation skills.
- Risk assessment and service prioritization abilities.
- Competence in maintaining medical records and preparing reports compliant with licensure regulations.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community partners.
Licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine as a Clinical Psychologist or by the Board of Psychology as a Psychologist (Clinical) is required. A Psy.
D. or Ph.D. in Psychology from an APA-accredited graduate school is required. A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are also required.
