Certified Pharmacy Technician - Data Entry

Wytheville, Virginia – Southern Pharmacy Services, a member of the Guardian family of pharmacies, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our rapidly growing team. In this role you will support medication management for seniors and individuals with complex care needs in a fast‑paced, inclusive environment.

• Enter and process prescriptions into the pharmacy operating system with speed and accuracy.
• Communicate with customers over the telephone, responding quickly and courteously.
• Triaging incoming fax prescriptions to ensure timely dispensing.
• Ensure proper notes, cycle fill coding, and dosage verification are entered accurately.
• Receive, evaluate, and process all refill requests, coordinating with doctors’ offices as needed.
• Assist with filing completed orders, packaging medications, inventory management, and other pharmacy duties as required.
• Maintain data entry records for cycle medication, fill requests, and renewal orders.
• Complete all assigned tasks within regular shift hours.
• Other essential functions and duties may be assigned as needed.

• Enter new and refill prescriptions into the operating system accurately and timely.
• Triage incoming fax prescriptions for prompt dispensing.
• Ensure correct notes and coding in the computer system.
• Calculate or verify dosage based on the prescription.
• Provide courteous customer service over the phone and route calls appropriately.
• Complete all assigned prescriptions within the shift.
• Follow up with doctors’ offices on all refills as required.
• Develop proficiency with all pharmacy systems (e.g., document imaging, legacy pharmacy computer systems).
• Assist with packaging, inventory, profiling of orders for medical records, and dispensing as needed.
• Meet delivery deadlines and maintain accurate cycle medication records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED (per state requirements).
• Pharmacy Technician license/certification/registration (per state requirements);
  National Certification preferred (PTCB).

• 2+ years of related experience (advanced degree may substitute for experience).
• Advanced computer skills; pharmacy operations system experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Problem‑solving skills with minimal direction.
• Great attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Motivation to identify errors and ensure data accuracy.
