- The Radiologic Technologist performs radiographic procedures, producing images for the interpretation by, or at the request of a licensed independent practitioner.
- Radiographers must demonstrate an understanding of the human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.
- Radiographers must maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique.
- They must maintain knowledge of radiation protection and safety.
- Radiographers must remain sensitive to the physical, cultural and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring and patient care skills.
- Radiographers actively participate in a dual role while working in the clinical environment.
- Duties include but are not limited to patient registration, scheduling, clerical support, and customer service.
- Basic medical assistant duties may be performed by a radiologic technologist after training and competency are demonstrated.
- Medical assistant duties may include triaging patients under the direction and supervision of the provider.
- This includes functions such as obtaining height and weight, vital signs, and specific point of care testing.
- Post High School Diploma Program
- Relevant Experience
- BLS Certification
- RT (R ) (ARRT) or Certification eligible technologists hired upon graduation pass examination prior to start date
