JOB TITLE:Dining Maintenance Technician
JOB PURPOSE:The Dining Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of food service equipment and facilities across all campus dining locations. This position is responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial kitchen equipment, utilities, and facility systems, supporting a clean, safe, and compliant dining environment for students, staff, and guests.
This position has been deemed essential as addressed in the University of Wyoming’s Employee Handbook. Employees in essential positions may be required to work during emergency closures and winter closure based on the nature of their job duties and the reasons for the closure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of commercial food service equipment (e.g., dish machines, ovens, refrigerators, steamers, grills, ice machines, exhaust hoods).
- Conduct preventative maintenance and equipment inspections according to manufacturer recommendations and internal schedules.
- Maintain and repair kitchen plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems in coordination with campus Facilities or Physical Plant staff when required.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and equipment malfunctions to minimize operational disruptions.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and work orders.
- Support installation and decommissioning of food service equipment during renovations or vendor transitions.
- Collaborate with dining leadership and outside vendors to assess equipment performance and identify long‑term maintenance solutions.
- Ensure compliance with safety codes, sanitation standards, and health department regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; safely use tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
- Participate in on‑call rotation and respond to after‑hours emergencies as needed.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
2 years work‑related experience
Required licensure, certification, registration, or other requirements:
- Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working knowledge of commercial kitchen systems and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, technical documents, and schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Background in commercial kitchen equipment repair.
- Refrigeration troubleshooting experience.
