Field Service Technician (FST)The Field Service Technician will interact with customers, other field technicians, engineering, fabrication, and installation team members. This position combines field and office tasks to ensure new and existing customers receive the proper support needed to assess and maintain their Air Pollution Control (APC) systems as required by regulatory and production demands. The FST often serves as the first person of contact and helps identify improvement, expansion projects, and maintain continued relationships for our technical services.
Travel is required (up to 60‑80% across the United States).
- Basic troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair on designated equipment and APC systems as required by process and design.
- Completing preventative maintenance and field modifications within the work order.
- Identifying, ordering, and managing repair parts required for operation of the APC equipment.
- Maintaining customer service logs and internal schedules, field notes for reports and communication.
- Continuously updating service records in a timely manner.
- Communicating with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow‑up.
- Maintaining tools and test equipment, ensuring they are calibrated and in good working condition.
- Identifying and participating in sales opportunities such as new contracts, contract renewals, and system sales.
- Working as a member of the national team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area.
- Critical thinking and problem solving.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Customer service orientation.
- Ability to interpret technical issues through non‑technical descriptions.
- Experience troubleshooting, testing, repairing, and servicing Air Pollution Control Systems.
- Project management skills (training or supervisory experience preferred).
- Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and site safety conditions.
- Familiarity with mobile test tools and applied math to confirm data values.
- Knowledge of industry rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet customer and contract requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
- Physical capability to lift/carry up to 65 lbs., climb, and work in a heavy industrial environment.
- Travel flexibility (overnight stays, driving, flying).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; BS degree in Engineering or relevant trade licensing, certificates, industrial accreditations, and experience preferred.
