GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking a Bird Farm Technician in Yoder, Wyoming, to support the propagation of Ring-necked pheasants. This hands-on role assists with daily bird production activities, as well as facilities and equipment maintenance to ensure a safe and efficient operation. The position is anticipated to run from April 2026 through August 2026 and is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, caring for wildlife, and contributing to Wyoming’s conservation efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.
- Helps with the propagation of pheasants, including maintaining shelter and providing food and water.
- Monitors the development of pheasants, including collecting and incubating eggs, hatching chicks, and medicating as needed. Helps maintain brood stock.
- Maintains buildings, grounds, equipment, vehicles, and other assigned duties; assists other Department employees in the Laramie Region as needed.
- Sorting, moving, loading, and releasing pheasants.
- Able to work in a wide variety of weather conditions.
- Must be self-starting and able to work alone.
Preference may be given to applicants with prior farm and ranch experience. Must have a valid drivers license.
KNOWLEDGE- Skill in detailed observation and recognizing the problems of animals. Skill in coordinating and completing multiple tasks.
- Skill in working with the public.
- Skill in decision-making and interpersonal relations.
- Knowledge and skills in carpentry, plumbing, and vehicle repairs.
- Ability to operate farm machinery such as tractors, chainsaws, cement mixers, ATVs, mowers, and hand tools.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS- Work varied hours, including some evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
- Heavy lifting (50-80 lbs).
- Proper use of farm implements and other equipment.
- FLSA:
Non-exempt. - The duration of this position is from April 2026 to August 2026.
