General Description

Senior Plumber for the Wyoming Department of Corrections, Wyoming State Penitentiary. Responsible for the repair, maintenance, and preventive maintenance functions throughout the prison facility and property plumbing system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Performs complex duties in the repair, maintenance, installation, and repair of plumbing systems and backflow prevention devices in state buildings.
  • Recommends energy‑saving changes.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs fire sprinkler systems and irrigation systems.
  • Oversees the operation of steam boiler plants.
  • Works with engineers on new system design, troubleshooting, testing, and startup of new systems.
  • Works carefully to follow all current regulations for plumbing work to ensure all installed systems pass inspections.
Qualifications

Preferences: Preference may be given to those applicants with 2‑4 years of progressive work experience in a skilled trade.

Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of plumbing system maintenance and repairs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education & Experience Substitution: 3‑4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber.
  • OR
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience: 0‑1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None.
Physical Working Conditions
  • Climbing on an occasional to regular basis.
  • Lifting/grasping up to 50 pounds without assistance regularly.
  • Walking/standing on cement floors regularly.
  • Walking up and down stairs regularly.
  • Balancing on an occasional basis.
  • Stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching regularly.
  • Crawling on an occasional basis.
  • Pushing/pulling/reaching regularly.
  • Speaking/hearing frequently.
  • May work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Perform maintenance on equipment that may not be visible and would require being completed by feel or touch on an occasional basis.
  • The visual ability to operate machinery and perform mechanical or skilled trade duties.
  • The visual ability to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Computer literate.
