General Description
The Wyoming Women’s Center is seeking an HVAC Specialist responsible for maintaining and repairing HVAC systems, including heating, central air conditioning, refrigeration, oil burners, hot‑air furnaces, and heating stoves. Established in 1981, the Center serves as a primary education and treatment facility for female inmates and offers programs to reduce recidivism through cognitive and behavioral interventions.

- Perform all duties of the HVAC Specialist.
- Install, adjust, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical and mechanical components of HVAC/R systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC/R equipment.
- Oversee HVAC/R projects performed by outside contractors for code compliance, payments, design, and installation.
- Collaborate with professional engineers on project design and construction.
- Prepare cost estimates for installation of environmental control units and related systems.
- Manage procurement and use of ozone‑depleting substances.
- Analyze HVAC system efficiency and propose energy‑saving modifications.
- Use infrared imaging for predictive maintenance.
- Install and maintain mechanical equipment used across agency facilities (car wash, high‑pressure washers, cafeteria appliances, lab ovens, refrigeration units, humidifiers, server room cooling, dispatch, and operations areas).
- Perform seasonal start‑up and shut‑down of heating and air‑conditioning plants.
- Work around hazardous and/or toxic materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PREFERENCES: Preference may be given to candidates with 3–4 years of progressive HVAC field experience.
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycle, refrigerants, air conditioning, and related air‑handling equipment.
- Knowledge of acceptable practices, methods, and tools used in installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC‑R equipment.
Minimum:
Bachelor’s Degree.
0–1 year of progressive HVAC work experience with knowledge at the level of an HVAC Specialist, or
OR
3–4 years of progressive HVAC experience at the level of an HVAC Specialist.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsAgency may require an EPA license.
