Overview
Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for providing a safe, comfortable, and efficient working environment for Wyoming Military Department employees in the Northeast Quadrant of Wyoming. This position will assist in maintaining the Armories and Field Maintenance Shops in excess of 105,400 square feet of facility space, plus 35 acres of grounds and landscaping. This position is required to complete inspections, routine, scheduled, deferred, and emergency maintenance to facilities located in Casper, Douglas, Gillette, Sheridan, Worland, Lovell, and sometimes Lander.
Responsibilities- Areas of responsibility include buildings and grounds maintenance as needed to maintain the buildings and grounds at assigned facilities.
- Utilize associated equipment to maintain Statewide Wyoming Military Department Facilities and Grounds, including roofing, walls, flooring, door hardware, concrete, fixtures, HVAC, minor electrical, minor plumbing, and building management systems.
- Establish work priorities, assess urgency of maintenance issues, prioritize work orders, establish cost estimates, seek funding approval, procure repair or replacement parts, anticipate seasonal maintenance demands, and maintain and account for all assigned equipment.
- Receive work orders, resource work orders, report work order completion to the supervisor, and update work orders in the work order system.
- Identify and request supplies, equipment needs, and materials to complete assigned tasks. Maintain vehicle fleet and perform minor repairs to vehicles and equipment. Provide call-in or call-back services in support of seasonal needs.
- Perform interior and exterior building maintenance tasks involving windows, walls, ceilings, floors, doors, and related components.
- Locksmith tasks including office and general door locks, exit devices, hardware installation, repairs, and maintenance.
- Electrical tasks including light bulb replacement and small-scale repairs; assist with HVAC troubleshooting, repair, and routine maintenance; assist with plumbing troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed as requested.
- Carry out preventative maintenance such as caulking, drywall repair and painting, ceiling tile replacement, hanging/installing furniture, and related tasks.
- Assist occupants with moving office furniture and equipment; assist with grounds maintenance including mowing, landscaping, irrigation, trimming, weed control, and related grounds work.
- Perform snow removal, routine grounds cleanup, and travel to multiple sites as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance on wheeled vehicles, tractors, trailers, ATVs, mowing and snow removal equipment; assist with tool and equipment inventory; log information into the work order system; submit purchase requests for materials and equipment.
- Assist other Buildings and Grounds staff, skilled trades crews, supervisors, and managers with assigned tasks; may assist with custodial work when needed.
- PREFERENCES / AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Required to obtain/maintain a driver's license
- Required to obtain/maintain Federal Security Clearance
- Knowledge:
Safety regulations (OSHA);
Building Codes, Life Safety Code, and ADA Regulations; skilled trades experience (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, locksmithing, equipment operation); electrical diagnostics; power woodworking, metalworking, masonry equipment; knowledge of wood products; concrete masonry units, asphalt, and repair; familiarity with construction and facility maintenance regulations. - Minimum Qualifications:
- Education & Experience Substitution: 2-4 years in skilled trades with knowledge at the level of a Skilled Trades Assistant
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None - OR:
Education - Associate's Degree;
Experience - 0-2 years of progressive work experience at the Skilled Trades Assistant level
- Necessary
Special Requirements :- Travel up to 40% of the time to Northwest Quadrant locations; most travel is Day Trips
