Overview
The Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments (OSLI) is seeking a Geospatial Technology Analyst in Cheyenne, Wyoming. OSLI manages approximately four million acres of state trust land across the state. The analyst will contribute to the development and distribution of geographic data, assist in maintaining mapping resources, and provide technical support for agency systems.

- Analyzes, creates, updates, maintains, interprets, maps, and provides technical assistance and user support for geographic data used by many employees.
- Maintains GIS layers within an enterprise GIS environment and conducts analyses of GIS data that support management decisions.
- Creates data for new leases and land ownership as information is provided to the GIS team.
- Identifies new leases and ownership in the land management systems that need to be added to GIS.
- Performs regular and routine analysis and quality assurance/quality control on new and existing data to ensure correct and accurate information.
- Identifies data issues and makes recommendations to correct issues.
- Maintains and supports online mapping resources.
- Assists in various data entry or data cleanup projects.
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in GIS, Data Management, or related fields.
Knowledge
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other geospatial technologies.
- GIS terms and definitions.
- Real estate terms, reading maps, plats, legal descriptions, legal documents, and metes and bounds.
- Land surveying and land systems.
- Cartographic design fundamentals.
- Data management concepts and best practices.
- Basic web design and graphic design.
- HTML, CSS, and SQL.
Education
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s Degree (typically in GIS or Data Management or a related field).
Experience
- 0–1 year of progressive work experience (typically in GIS or Data Management or related field) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Map Editor.
- OR 3–4 years of progressive work experience (typically in GIS or Data Management or related field) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Map Editor.
