Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on Terra Power’s Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re-establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy that provides matching funding to industry to design and build an operational advanced reactor.

Terra Power, a leading advanced generation technology company founded by former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, will be deploying its 345 MWe sodium fast reactor (SFR), called Natrium. The Natrium plant features an advanced, cost-competitive reactor design that is safer, simpler, easier, and less costly to construct, less expensive to operate, and able to provide energy that is competitive with fossil fuels.

It also features an innovative molten salt energy storage system designed to be complementary to solar and wind power by evening out the peaks and valleys in production when the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing. With the reactor and energy storage output combined, the plant can produce more than 500 MWe of power.

The Civil Superintendent is assigned to the field construction organization in a supervisory capacity. Responsible for supervising and directing operations within the Civil discipline. Supervises and directs craft and subcontract activities, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance comply with specifications and within schedule and budget. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions. #LI-CL1

• Responsible for field construction operations within assigned discipline or area: safety, quality, and performance.
  
  Safely directs assigned construction work in accordance with Bechtel’s safety program.
• Determines manual staffing requirements. Coordinates established operational plans. Schedules work to be performed, and reviews work accomplished by each craft. Monitors work activities and ensure the quality of work performed.
• Ensures the most current design document and vendor drawing is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
• Approves craft time records using established automated tools.
• Prepares schedules, construction methods, and procedures. Participates in constructability reviews and execution plans.
• Supervises and directs subordinate personnel and craftsmen in construction activities within assigned area.
• Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, equipment forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
• Monitors tool usage on the site.
  
  Prepares Field Material Requisition s for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
• Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
• Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
• Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas, and clients' resident representatives as instructed by construction management.
