Position SummaryThe Weld Department Coordinator provides advanced technical expertise and leadership within the welding and fabrication departments. This role ensures welding operations run efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards through expert-level knowledge, strong organizational skills, and proactive coordination. The ideal candidate combines hands-on welding ability with proven leadership and scheduling skills to help plan, organize, and execute daily production activities across multiple teams.
ResponsibilitiesHand tools, power tools, grinders, cut off wheels, saw, shear, welders, and tape measure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s)The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience- 5+ years of professional welding or fabrication experience required.
- 8+ years of progressive welding experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW), materials, and blueprint interpretation required.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate workloads, manage priorities, and maintain organized production schedules preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and motivate others while maintaining accountability preferred.
- Experience with weld inspection methods, documentation, and quality assurance practices preferred.
- Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
- Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions and communicate new information that could affect project trajectories.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Able to perform intermediate PC functions in Microsoft Office and SharePoint, including the use of spreadsheets, lists, schedules and certification tracking methods.
- Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.
- Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
- Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
