Position Overview

This candidate will play a key role in identifying and driving product improvements by combining technical investigation work with continuous improvement engineering. In this role, you will assess field issues, analyze complex incidents, and translate findings into actionable engineering changes. You will work closely with cross‑functional partners to enhance product performance, safety, and long‑term durability across multiple product lines. This position offers the opportunity to influence product enhancements through technical depth, broad exposure, and meaningful ownership of improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify targeted product improvement opportunities informed by field investigations, internal analyses, and cross‑functional insights.
  • Translate investigative findings into actionable recommendations that strengthen product quality and safety.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through the engineering change process.
  • Conduct root‑cause analyses to identify trends, systemic issues, and long‑term improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, validation, and subject‑matter experts to implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with field investigators to assess incidents involving fires, accidents, rollovers, electrical concerns, or mechanical claims.
  • Compile and present findings in Peer Review sessions to diverse internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as a technical investigation expert for engineering teams and product liability counsel as needed.
  • Represent Polaris in multiparty inspections related to fire, accident, or litigation claims.
  • Provide testimony, including depositions, affidavits, or trial testimony, when requested by counsel.

Qualifications
  • BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of product investigation experience.
  • Experience in technical investigations with the ability to analyze complex incidents and determine root causes.
  • Proven analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems such as powertrain, chassis, electrical, or crash worthiness preferred.
  • Design, testing, accident reconstruction, or fire investigation experience preferred.
  • The following certifications are a plus: CFI, CFEI, CVFI, ACTAR, ABYC.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, CAD, 3D imaging, laboratory environments, or relevant technical standards is a plus.
  • Travel required and may range from 25-50% throughout the year.
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

The starting pay range for Minnesota is $78,000 to $103,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.

To qualify for this position, former employees must be eligible for rehire, and current employees must be in good standing.
