Position Summary

The R&D Project Engineer – Engineering Standards & Data acts as a key liaison between engineering and data management, driving initiatives that enhance data integrity and operational efficiency. This role ensures smooth production transitions during large engineering changes and leverages improvement opportunities to strengthen engineering standards. Success requires expertise in product data management, experience with technical documentation, strong analytical skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively across engineering, production, purchasing, and data management teams.

Essential

Functions
  • Assist with data management for large engineering changes to ensure smooth transitions of inventory and shop floor processes by coordinating with engineering, production, purchasing, and other teams.
  • Participate in and help coordinate continuous improvement efforts for coordination of engineering change.
  • Maintain Rosenbauer America written standards and best practices for the engineering team by coordinating discussions and documenting approved changes, with a focus on data management and data systems (PDM, ERP).
  • Research engineering data quality, provide reports, and coordinate cleanup and improvement efforts across engineering teams, ensuring standards and best practices are implemented.
  • Participate in organizational projects as needed.
  • Assist with daily engineering data management tasks on an as‑needed basis.
  • Create and maintain project and design documentation, including charters, project plans, design reports, and project timelines. Prepare and present project status reports.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company.
Qualifications Knowledge, Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or an additional 3 years of experience in a related role required.
  • 3+ years of related experience required.
  • 1+ years of experience with project management required.
  • Experience with PDM and ERP systems preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes for complex assemblies preferred.
  • Experience in the automotive industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of firefighting processes and equipment preferred.
Skills
  • Able to find, read, and interpret relevant scientific and technical documentation and standards.
  • Able to organize and facilitate discussions by listening, asking relevant questions, and suggesting solutions to problems.
  • Able to translate conversations and agreements into written standards.
  • Able to create and follow written and verbal directions and communicate new information that could affect project trajectories.
Math
  • Intermediate math functions and accounting abilities with a high aptitude for accuracy.
Computer
  • Able to perform intermediate PC functions including the use of spreadsheet tables and formulas.
  • Able to work within PDM and ERP systems.
Abilities
  • Able to deal with problems involving a variety of variables in non‑standard situations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
Other Qualifications
  • Driving license – may need to travel off site for trade shows, meetings, or company related events.
  • Own vehicle – may need to travel off site for trade shows, meetings, or company related events.
  • Hours of work – ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally; overtime as needed to meet the needs of the department.
