Position Summary

The Traveling Service Technician is responsible for all Rosenbauer products, delivering superior service and warranty support to internal, external customers and dealers. They will support customers, dealer technicians, and internal/external Rosenbauer technicians by providing technical information, procedures, and programming.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for delivering superior service and warranty support to internal and external customers.
  • Supports customers, dealer technicians, and internal/external Rosenbauer technicians by providing technical information, procedures, and programming.
  • Confirms coverage and processes paperwork for warranty parts needed by customers, dealer technicians, and internal/external technicians.
  • Manages and executes diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and testing of Rosenbauer Fire Apparatus, documenting in Rosenbauer Systems.
  • Updates and completes service reports along with each repair.
  • Uses the CRM system to update, monitor, and resolve issues and cases along with each repair.
  • Processes return merchandise authorizations for defective parts from vendors.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
Qualifications Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience
  • Associate degree in Service Technician, Automotive Technology, Automotive Technician, Emergency Vehicle Technician, or a similar field preferred.
  • Ability to obtain CDL B with tanker endorsement required.
  • 2+ years of experience performing mechanical repairs required.
  • Experience and understanding of all facets of firetruck construction and operation preferred.
  • Experience working on electrical components of machines or vehicles preferred.
  • EVT Certified preferred.
  • Experience working with hydraulics preferred.
  • Experience with Cummins INSITE and Allison DOC programs preferred.
Skills
  • It is able to find, read, and interpret relevant business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • It is able to write reports and business correspondence in a professional manner.
  • It is able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • It is able to follow written and verbal directions and communicate new information that could affect project trajectories.
  • It is able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • It is able to perform intermediate PC functions in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • It is able to deal with problems involving a variety of variables in non‑standard situations.
  • It is able to read and interpret build books and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • It is able to work professionally with customers/dealerships and internal staff to accomplish common goals.
  • It is able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • It is able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • It is able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
Additional Requirements
  • Driving licence: may need to travel off site for trade shows, meetings, or company‑related events.
  • Own vehicle required for travel off site for trade shows, meetings, or company‑related events.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally as needed to meet the needs of the department.
  • Travel:
    Local, overnight, prolonged periods up to 50% of the time.
  • Must obtain a CDL license with a tanker endorsement required.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Must have a US passport.
  • Must stay current on all required Technician exams.
