The teacher is expected to be in whole-hearted agreement with the OCA Statement of Faith and school policies. From all accounts and appearances, the teacher’s life demonstrates clear evidence of a personal commitment to Jesus and a desire to live under His Lordship. The teacher is expected to be a student and lover of the Bible, God's only written Word. The teacher consistently attends a local evangelical church.

Active, joyful participation in staff meetings and school assemblies is expected. The teacher must maintain a neat, organized, clean, and stimulating classroom environment and involve students in maintaining the room s appearance. The teacher should establish simple, manageable class routines for tasks such as attendance, homework collection, daily cleaning schedules, materials storage, and distribution, etc. The teacher should be familiar with and able to apply the school rules.

The teacher is expected to diffuse and deal with most disciplinary situations within the classroom and provide accurate reports for administrative discipline when necessary. A variety of teaching methods consistent with the teacher evaluation rubric should be used to stimulate and maintain student interest and to measure progress in addition to testing. The school curriculum guide is to be used as the primary guide for measuring overall development of the class and individual students.

The teacher abides by policies as outlined in the teacher handbook and should demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills. A bachelor s degree is the standard for all full-time teachers; exceptions may be made where appropriate training, certifications, and/or experience are demonstrated. This description is not intended to be a complete delineation of all possible responsibilities but a general description of the basic tasks a teacher will normally perform, and the teacher will comply with applicable school policies and guidelines.

• The teacher is expected to maintain orderly (not necessarily silent) classroom conditions, with an environment that encourages self-discipline and clear understanding of class and school rules.
• Maintain a neat, organized, clean, and stimulating classroom; set up simple, manageable class routines; take attendance; collect homework; manage daily cleaning schedules; store and distribute materials.
• Use a variety of teaching methods consistent with the teacher evaluation rubric to engage students, stimulate interest, and measure progress beyond testing.
• Ensure regular communication with parents; get to know families well and inform them about class activities; welcome parental visits and assistance under the teacher s direction.
• Demonstrate pride in OCA through work quality, punctuality, speech, attitude, dress, and attention to duties.
• Comply with school policies and guidelines; have working knowledge of the school s purpose and philosophy; understand that a bachelor s degree is the standard for full-time teachers, with exceptions as appropriate.

• Thorough knowledge of and interest in the subjects taught; ability to relate all subjects to God s integrated universe and to use language and vocabulary appropriate for students.
