Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience.
About Our UnitOur 48-bed Medical Surgical Unit cares for patients through many different phases of their healthcare journey. You’ll work alongside a skilled and compassionate team supporting patients with a wide range of needs — from post-surgical recovery to treatment for acute infectious diseases requiring IV antibiotics, to management of chronic conditions during flare-ups. We also provide dignified, compassionate care for patients and families during end-of-life support.
WhatYou’ll Do
Your day-to-day impact includes:
- Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chem sticks.
- Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.
- Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
To qualify, you’ll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary:
Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)). - Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
- Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license
- Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).
- At least one (1) year of experience in a Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.
- Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred
- Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.
- Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.
- Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
