London JOB SUMMARY An experienced and compassionate Team Manager is required to lead an Assessment and Intervention service, supporting social workers to deliver high-quality, relationship-based practice to children and families. This is a key leadership role, central to achieving Together vision and ensuring safe, effective, and outcome-focused social work.
JOB DESCRIPTION The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
Providing strong, supportive, and reflective leadership to a team of 6–8 qualified social workers. Managing staff performance, supervision, development, and wellbeing to ensure high-quality practice. Overseeing assessment and intervention work with children and families, ensuring statutory duties are met. Creating a secure team environment that encourages open discussion, professional challenge, and systemic practice. Supporting social workers to manage complex and high-risk cases effectively.
Ensuring timely, proportionate, and child-focused assessments and interventions. Working closely with the Service Manager to contribute to service delivery and continuous improvement. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:
Essential Qualifications & Registration A recognised Social Work qualification. Registered with Social Work England. Essential Experience & Skills Previous experience working at Team Manager level . Extensive experience within an Assessment and/or Intervention service . Strong leadership skills within fast-paced, high-demand children’s services. Ability to support, challenge, and motivate social workers to deliver excellent practice.
