Job Overview

Pantomine Ward is a 27-bed unit specializing in Gastroenterology and Liver diseases. It has achieved a silver accreditation and prides itself on developmental opportunities and learning. Teamwork is paramount; the team is innovative and supportive for all staff members.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence‑based nursing care, working collaboratively and cooperatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families. The post holder also assists in the management and organization of the clinical area and participates in the education, development and supervision of other staff members. The unit works closely with all members of the MDT focusing on effective and safe discharge of patients.

The post holder will coordinate the work of healthcare support workers, assistant practitioners, students, preceptorship nurse (depending on level of experience) in the delivery of nursing care. Welsh speakers are desirable.

  • Pre‑registration evidence in direct nursing care.
  • Interest in developing nursing skills.
  • National Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Pin.
Essential criteria
  • Clear understanding of contract of care.
  • Ability to document details clearly and accurately.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
Desirable criteria
  • Background in acute care.
  • Knowledge of incident reporting policy and awareness of policies.
  • Welsh Speaker.
