Injection Moulding Supervisor

Location:

Wrexham, North Wales. Based in a well‑established manufacturing organisation.

Salaried at £32,000 per annum with a 20% shift allowance. Benefits include enhanced pension contributions, reduced gym memberships, health cashback scheme, employee assistance programme, subsidised on‑site canteen, and approximately 20 Fridays off per year.

Job overview:
Lead a small team in a high‑volume moulding department. Drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across shift operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and optimise injection moulding machines ranging from 10 to 650 tonne.
  • Conduct mould tool trials and drive process optimisation.
  • Carry out first‑line maintenance on moulding machines, ancillary equipment, and tooling.
  • Ensure quality checks are completed and parts meet customer specifications.
  • Drive 6S, CIT, and Six Sigma continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure production schedules, OEE targets, and shift KPIs are achieved.
  • Lead, train, and develop shift staff.
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations, moulding procedures, and systems are adhered to.
Person Specification
  • Experience with plastic processing machinery (advantageous but not essential; full training provided).
  • Knowledge of engineering polymers.
  • Experience programming CNC 3‑axis and pick‑and‑place robots.
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Polymer Processing or PTL Level 3 (desirable).
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience working within a shift‑based manufacturing environment.
  • HNC level or above in an engineering discipline (desirable).
