As a department we offer a range of services to children and families and constantly seek ways to develop our service. This is an exciting opportunity for those wishing to learn and develop skills in a supportive environment.
Main duties of the jobAssist the registered nursing practitioner and work within a multidisciplinary team in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of specialist neonatal care. Ensuring a family centered care approach. Organises, prioritises and adjusts unsupervised care to a defined caseload of babies within the Neonatal Unit.
To ensure high standards of Neonatal care are maintained in a safe environment. To develop neonatal knowledge, skills and competencies through training whilst adhering to BCUHB's policies and protocols.
To communicate and document effectively at all times within the multidisciplinary team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Job responsibilitiesBe accountable for own actions or omissions and understanding role, boundaries and limitations.
Have understanding of Units policies, protocol and procedures. The post holder would be expected to report to a qualified practitioner any deviation in a babys condition.
To communicate effectively and professionally with the multi-disciplinary team. To have an understanding of sensitive information, for example, safeguarding issues and to understand the importance of information governance.
To contribute and advise parents and carers in relation to parenting skills and health promotion, for example, environmental temperature and positioning babies in relation to cot death prevention, infection prevention, breast and bottle feeding advice.
Deal with general enquiries using initiative and judgment on whether immediate independent action should be taken or whether referral to a senior staff is required.
The post holder will be expected to effectively document any neonatal care they have given to include computerized systems.
The post holder will be expected to act on own initiative in planning, delivering and evaluating care to a defined caseload of babies within the neonatal unit.
The post holder may care for up to 4 babies who may be oxygen dependent, have congenital abnormalities and require gastric tube feeding.
