Job Overview

Main duties of the jobWorking closely with the post holder will facilitate achievement of a quality patient experience, whilst acting within clearly defined policies/procedure guidelines, and codes of conduct.
The Parkinson’s Nurse will offer ongoing support and advice to people with Parkinson’s, their families and carers, and offer assessment and regular reviews in a nurse‑led clinic at the person’s home or by telephone as appropriate.
This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to develop expertise within this specialty. Experience with in a neurology setting is desirable; however, consideration will be given to a candidate who demonstrates a keen interest and proven record of accomplishment of personal and professional development and is willing to undergo training to meet this role. You must however possess a flexible attitude, and commitment to achieve excellence.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Qualifications- Registered Nurse Degree in Nursing;
Post graduate qualification relevant to speciality (diploma level or above) - Post graduate qualification relevant to speciality (diploma level or above)
- Highly specialist clinical knowledge of Parkinson’s disease and related disorders acquired through nursing patients with Parkinson’s disease
- Highly developed knowledge of complex specialist Parkinson’s medication
- Experience of initiation and titration of Parkinson’s disease medication
- Experience of participation in clinical research and auditli>
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Evidence of leadership
- Evidence of contribution to the development of practice
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to initiate and manage change to meet service requirements
- Ability to produce business case to enable service development
- Develop protocols for specialist Parkinson’s services which impact on other disciplines
- Propose policy/service changes which impact on the wider health community
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Experience in specialist teaching/supervision skills
- Ability to work with senior clinicians
- Possess intermediate IT skills
- Ability to access transport to carry out domiciliary/clinic commitments
- Independent Prescribing qualification MSc level study
- Ability to speak Welsh
- Good interpersonal skills
