- To support the Ward Manager in the day to day running of the Wards, together with specified tasks to meet individual patient needs as determined by the Ward Manager / Deputy Ward Manager or Nurse in Charge.
- To be responsible for general housekeeping duties within the wards.
- To work closely with contractors and support services and monitor quality standards and rectify deficiencies in liaison with the Ward Managers.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

- In partnership with Domestic Services ensure that a clean, safe and comfortable environment is maintained and patient equipment is decontaminated in line with the BCUHB Cleaning Responsibility Framework/Tasks.
- Participates with the clean hospital audits and act upon findings within realm of responsibility.
- Assist in maintaining the unit in a tidy and uncluttered manner at all times.
- Working in partnership with Registered Nurses ensure that all trolley areas are clean, uncluttered and fully stocked, and once a trolley is empty ensure that all necessary measures are undertaken in preparation for the next patient.
- Liaise with estates department to resolve issues e.g. blocked sink, leaking pipes
- In collaboration with the Domestic Services ensure that the flushing of water systems decontamination showers occur on a daily basis and is recorded on the agreed documentation.
- Communicate with hospital departments to ensure that there is prompt and appropriate delivery of services to the unit e.g.
- Participate in ordering, monitoring and maintaining adequate clinical and non-clinical supplies to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- The laundering of specialist items. e.g. slide sheets
- Ensure all medicines 'top ups' are ordered and stored correctly.
- Carry out quality assurance audits on a regular basis monitoring cleaning, and the patient environment quality standards in compliance with Credits for Cleaning. Document findings using agreed paperwork.

Person Specification Qualifications- NVQ Level 3 Direct Care or equivalent experience
- Educated to GCSE standard (grades A to
C) or equivalent. - Qualifications in related subjects (or working towards them) for example Food Hygiene Certificate; or Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience of dealing with members of the public.
- Experience of planning and organising daily activities across a variety of disciplines.
- Previous experience of undertaking a Housekeeper role.
- Experience of working for a NHS organisation.
- Experience of working with a variety of professional groups.
- Experience of a busy ward environment.
- Able to empathise with patients and their families/friends
- Poilite, caring and courteous
- Able to work as part of a team
- Able to follow instruction and directives
- Basic keyboard skills, IT skills, email, word, PAS, Welsh clinical Portal
- Ability to prioritise workload without direct supervision
