I'm currently recruiting for an Automation Design Engineer to join a leading, award‑winning manufacturing and recycling facility based in Wrexham, North Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that is truly forward‑thinking, technology‑driven, and globally connected.
ABOUT
THE ROLE
This position is ideal for someone passionate about engineering innovation. You'll be involved in designing, developing, and enhancing the next generation of production lines and equipment-not just for the UK site, but for locations across the wider global group.
From concept and development through to build, commissioning, and continuous improvements, you'll play a key role in shaping cutting‑edge automation solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Produce detailed engineering designs using CAD software
Conduct research and analysis to validate feasibility and drive optimisation
Maintain thorough project documentation, design updates, and drawings
Prepare accurate project costings, including Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Perform testing and validation to ensure reliability and performance
Support design modifications during build and commissioning phases
Provide troubleshooting support for existing equipment across the group
ABOUT YOU
Skills, Knowledge, and
Experience:
Experience using 3D CAD software
Understanding of industrial automation and manufacturing processes
Interest in system design and mechanical assembly
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
High attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality

WORKING HOURS
Monday to Thursday: 08:00-17:15
Working Fridays: 08:00-16:15
Non‑working Fridays: approx. 21-23 days per year
