We have secured a new framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water that will last up to eight years, covering projects across the DCC region including clean and wastewater treatment sites, below ground assets, reservoirs and nature-based solutions. Our presence in Wales has grown significantly, directly employing over 270 colleagues in the country across all roles.
You will work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and communities. MMB provides the feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services needed to keep water flowing and wastewater treated.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the civil functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects, from concept design to commissioning, ensuring that all civil aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.
The role of a Civil Engineer includes:- Preparing and reviewing designs for schemes and ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
- Producing and reviewing technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
- Understanding, applying and contributing to design standards with a good knowledge of Client and industry standards.
- Challenging Client specifications and presenting and defending solutions to complex problems.
- Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.
- Acting as technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews for projects across teams.
- Managing the interfaces and integration of the design with other disciplines and production of documentation.
- Seeking input from other engineers, specialists, client and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit for purpose solutions.
- Working closely with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.
- Supervising and mentoring Graduates and Engineers to support their development.
- Engaging with the client to manage relationships and adopt a one-team approach to achieving project aims.
- Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within existing systems.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Working towards Chartered/Incorporated status with a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
- Experience with water or wastewater, non-infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering high quality outputs in line with design, quality and safety standards.
- Effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
- Methodical problem-solving approach.
- Proactive and pragmatic mindset.
- Ability to deliver results within short time frames, prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
