Contract: Permanent, 37 hours per week. term-time only

The Teaching Assistant will:
  • Provide teaching support to allocated students by planning teaching with the class teacher to achieve progression of learning.
  • Identifying clear learning objectives and determining how they will be supported and assessed.
  • Assist teaching staff with lesson planning and has an understanding of the school curriculum.
  • Support individual or groups of students during independent/group work.
  • Promote good behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage students to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
  • To ensure accuracy and confidentiality in dealing with requests and maintaining records.
  • To follow the requisite procedures and legislation regarding confidential information.
  • Liaise effectively with parents/carers, sharing and providing information relevant to the role.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and evaluation and assist in implementation.
  • Be actively involved in the day-to-day management of the learning environment including responsibility for the care and preparation of teaching aids, equipment and materials as appropriate.
  • Making appointments for parents and professionals to attend annual review and ensuring that all necessary papers are available.
  • Assist with supervision of students out of lesson times at lunchtime and break times and support children with interventions as appropriate.
  • Accompany teaching staff and students on visits, trips and out of school activities as required.
  • Help administer and supervise examinations when required.
