Senior Product Developer – Sports Equipment

As our product ranges and global footprint continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior Product Developer to play a key role in leading complex product initiatives, growing our brand, and mentoring the wider Product Development team.

This role is suited to an established Product Developer who combines strong technical product knowledge with commercial awareness and leadership capability. You’ll take strategic ownership of key product categories/projects and influence product direction to ensure quality, profitability, and long-term success.

• Lead end-to-end product development across complex or high-value projects, from initial concept and feasibility through to production, launch, and post-launch review
• Own and drive product category strategy, identifying long-term opportunities for growth, innovation, and range optimisation
• Take ownership of defined product categories assigned to you, maintaining in‑depth product knowledge and contributing to the continued expansion of our ranges and those of the wider team
• Manage and develop relationships with suppliers, overseeing performance, quality standards, lead times, and continuous improvement
• Lead supplier negotiations at a strategic level, securing competitive pricing, favourable terms, and sustainable margins
• Deliver detailed costings, pricing strategies, and commercial analysis to support business decisions and margin targets
• Ensure all products meet required quality, compliance, and due diligence standards, proactively managing risk throughout the development process
• Identify emerging market trends, technologies, and customer needs, translating insight into commercially viable product opportunities
• Support Junior and Product Developers, contributing to skills development, best practice, and process improvement, whilst also supporting Management team.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Buying, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to ensure successful product launches and ongoing performance

• 3+ years’ experience in a Product Developer or Senior Product Developer role, ideally within consumer goods or sports equipment
• Proven track record of successfully delivering products from concept to market
• Strong commercial acumen with advanced negotiation experience
• Experience managing and developing supplier relationships independently
• Excellent project management and prioritisation skills
• Confidence presenting product strategies and recommendations to senior stakeholders
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

• Experience working with international manufacturing partners
• Exposure to compliance, testing, and quality assurance frameworks
• Experience mentoring or line-managing junior team members
• A strong interest or passion for sports and sporting products
