Registered Nurse - Long Term Care (LTC)
Location: Wrangell, Alaska
Schedule: Full-Time | Night Shift
Employment Type: Permanent
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $99,000 - $128,000 annually
- Geographic Differential: $25,000 annually (in addition to base salary)
- Sign-On Bonus: $25,000 (for qualified candidates)
- Relocation Assistance: Up to $10,000 (for qualified candidates)
- Full-time night shift position
- Additional mileage reimbursement, bonuses beyond listed sign-on, and expense coverage are not included
The Long-Term Care Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering comprehensive nursing care to residents with complex medical, neurological, and chronic health conditions. This role includes assessment, medication administration, care planning, resident and family education, and leadership during assigned shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments through observation, interviews, and clinical data review
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized resident care plans
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with clinical guidelines and age-specific considerations
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and respond promptly to urgent or emergent situations
- Provide education to residents, families, and community members regarding care plans and disease management
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Participate in care conferences, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
- Provide leadership and guidance to CNAs, LPNs, and support staff
- Serve as Charge Nurse when needed
- Support staff orientation, training, and competency validation
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN, ADN, or Diploma in Nursing accepted)
- Active Alaska Registered Nurse license required (must obtain prior to start date if hired)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Completion of required clinical and high-risk competencies within designated timelines
- Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred
- Experience in long-term care, geriatric nursing, or chronic disease management strongly preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and care planning skills
- Knowledge of pharmacology, medication administration, and potential side effects
- Ability to recognize and respond to emergency symptoms
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Strong teamwork and leadership abilities
- Ability to manage complex resident care situations effectively
