The Grants Compliance & Reporting Manager is responsible for ensuring that all grant activities adhere to funder requirements by monitoring compliance and leading the grant reporting process. This role oversees grant compliance, reporting, and performance monitoring across the full grant lifecycle to ensure accurate reports that reflect program performance, outcomes, and deliverables. The position serves as a key connector between program, finance, data, and leadership teams to ensure accountability and timely fulfillment of grant commitments.
EssentialFunctions
- Ensure program implementation aligns with funded activities, outputs, outcomes, and performance measures committed to in grant applications.
- Monitor program performance during implementation and identify variances from approved grant scopes.
- Coordinate corrective actions with internal teams to address compliance or performance risks.
- Lead the post-award grant reporting process including facilitating grant kick-off meetings to review award terms, timelines, performance metrics, deliverables, and allowable costs.
- Coordinate with program, finance, data, and leadership teams to collect, compile, and review required programmatic, financial, and performance data in accordance with funder requirements.
- Ensure all grant reports and deliverables are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
- Maintain organized and audit-ready grant files across the full grant lifecycle.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and ongoing maintenance of all grant records in grant management or CRM systems for both pre-award and post-award activities, including proposal tracking, award documentation, reporting requirements such as schedules and deliverables.
- Track reporting schedules, deliverables, grant renewals, and grant amendments.
- Support audits, monitoring visits, and funder inquiries related to grant compliance and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with terms and conditions of grant agreements and identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, including coordinating corrective actions.
- Maintain and improve grant management systems, templates, and internal processes to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Provide guidance and training to staff to enhance their understanding of compliance, grant requirements, reporting expectations, and performance tracking.
- Ensure compliance with the Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and adherence to Federal, State, and Local policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with various departments within the organization and with external stakeholders to ensure coordinated compliance efforts.
- Effectively partner with leadership to anticipate needs, elevate issues appropriately, and drive outcomes.
- Assist in the development and implementation of grant policies and procedures to enhance compliance frameworks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, nonprofit management, social services, or a related field. Experience can substitute for post-secondary experience on a year-for-year basis.
ExperienceFive years of experience in nonprofit grants management and/or compliance. Experience using Salesforce or other grant management or CRM systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required- Understand and comply with all Agency policies and procedures, including Child Protection Policies.
- Understand and comply with all principles of Trauma-Informed Care. Willingness to acquire basic concepts in care coordination for adolescents and young adults and incorporate into service-provision.
- Understand the intersectionality of youth homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, human trafficking, and poverty.
- Strong understanding of post-award grant compliance and reporting requirements.
- Ability to translate grant commitments into practical monitoring and reporting tools.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage up and down within an organization ensuring coordination, accountability, and communication across teams.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines across a complex grant portfolio.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to identify risk early and provide recommendations for corrective action.
- Ability to coordinate and lead cross-functional teams ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
- Ability to approach compliance work with empathy, patience, and respect.
- Demonstrated trauma-informed practice including building trust, supporting psychological safety, and using non-punitive communication.
- Ability to provide guidance and feedback in a way that is supportive, clear, and empowering.
- Commitment to fostering a learning-oriented and supportive work environment.
- Proficient with standard computer operating systems. Ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite, online databases, and other programs and websites as required.
