Overview
Worthing Hospital is looking for Portering Supervisor to ensure that the Portering services team carry out their portering duties following departmental and Trust policies.
Responsibilities- supervise teams and to manage annual leave and sickness.
- communicate with all users of the services on a regular basis to ensure the service specifications are being delivered to agreed standards.
- provide effective communication and support to the operation of the department.
- aid Hospital staff, visitors and patients when faced with difficult situations caused by third parties, following Trust policies and procedures.
- communicate sensitive issues when dealing with the deceased family using tact and respect.
- guide and direct visitors and deal with telephone calls in a helpful and friendly manner.
- investigate and resolve complaints speedily and effectively, keeping a positive image of the department.
- provide advice and support to the portering team.
- communicate daily with all users.
- understand and adhere to procedures for dealing with complaints.
- attend daily briefing meeting with the Assistant Waste and Portering Manager, and liaise with other Supervisors.
- respond to the emergency Bleep for fire, medical emergency, major obstetric haemorrhage, deploying staff appropriately.
- planning / scheduling of rosters and appropriate annual leave within the team to ensure the service is well covered at all times.
- ability to transfer patients across site.
- ability to transfer waste from source to point of storage.
- assess manual handling / risk prior to movement.
Full time , permanent position - 37.5 hours per week. There is a requirement for this to be worked flexibly over a seven day rolling shift pattern.
