Endoscopy Healthcare Assistant – Community Eye Care, Worthing, England, UK
This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week worked over four days. Flexibility is required to support variable days and occasional weekends in line with business needs. You’ll travel for training and to support other sites within the region, gaining valuable experience across the network.
About the RoleAn exciting opportunity for an Endoscopy Health Care Assistant to join the team at Worthing Hospital. You will work alongside the Endoscopy team to support patient-centred care, recovery monitoring, and endoscope decontamination during the patient pathways, subject to training and competency.
Following training the Health Care Assistant will be able to:
- Be responsible for decontamination and maintaining the supply of endoscopes to JAG decontamination standards.
- Help prepare clinical areas for clinical activities.
- Ensure the smooth running of the Endoscopy Unit and procedure lists by maintaining a can-do attitude.
- Assist with stock management, equipment checking before use, and safe storage after use.
- Keep up to date with good practice, maintain core competencies, and continue to develop skills appropriate to Endoscopy practice.
- Adhere to good record keeping in line with corporate policies and procedures.
- Natural ability to empathise with patients and demonstrate genuine care
- Desire to provide high-quality, safe patient care
- Good communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to develop in line with the framework and your personal development plan
- Self-motivated and able to prioritise and schedule work independently
- Approachable and friendly manner to welcome patients into the clinic
