Payroll Assistant

Description

Here at Carpenter Box, we have a dedicated payroll team who look after businesses and their staff, by processing payroll at different intervals throughout the month. Our payroll bureau experts are on top of the ever‑changing legislation in payroll compliance, including pension auto‑enrolment.

We're seeking a Payroll Administrator who is detail oriented and able to work in a fast‑paced environment, all whilst delivering a first‑class service to our clients in our successful payroll bureau. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team where you’ll be managing multiple payrolls at any one time alongside a supportive team.

If you’re someone with extensive experience in either payroll bureau, outsourced payroll or in‑house payroll who can really hit the ground running then we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of weekly, 2 weekly, 4 weekly and monthly payroll runs
  • Collating information from clients in various forms
  • Preparing files for online client banking/BACS submissions
  • Processing advised changes including tax code, bonus, pay rate by agreed cut off dates
  • Dealing with enquiries from clients, and relevant authorities
  • Administering pension auto‑enrolment
  • Calculating holiday pay, SMP, SSP, SPP
  • Processing starters and leavers
  • Prepare end of month and year end submissions
  • Completion of P45 and P60s
  • Processing all reports

The successful candidate must be experienced in utilising payroll software systems. Candidates must also be familiar with current legislation and be able to work under tight deadlines.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Extensive payroll experience
  • Detail orientated with high attention to detail
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
  • The confidence to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to work towards and manage deadlines accordingly
