Lighting Design Assistant –

Location:

Lancing area (BN15). Salary: £27,000 rising to £28,000 after probation. A growing specialist engineering and lighting manufacturer based in the Lancing area is seeking a Lighting Design Assistant to join its office-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or junior candidate looking to begin their career within design and engineering, with clear opportunities for progression into more technical roles.

Reporting to the Design/Engineering team, the Lighting Design Assistant will support the production of lighting calculations, quotations and general office coordination, assisting projects from initial enquiry through to order processing.

• Produce lighting calculations using Relux/Dialux software (full training provided)
• Assist in preparing quotations using Sage
• Support client liaison via telephone and email
• Interpret basic technical drawings and project specifications
• Provide general administrative support to the design and sales teams
• Assist with document preparation using Adobe software where required

This is not an exhaustive list and responsibilities may evolve as business needs change.

• Graduate or A-Level qualified candidate (Engineering, Design, Architecture or similar preferred)
• Interest in engineering, technical design or lighting
• Experience with Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) desirable
• CAD knowledge beneficial but not essential
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills and professional telephone manner
• Efficient, proactive and able to manage workload effectively
• Able to commute to the Lancing (BN15) area

• Full-time, permanent position
• Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 16:30 (flexibility available)
• Office-based role

• £27,000 starting salary
• Increase to £28,000 upon successful completion of 6-month probation
