What You'll Do On a Typical Day
  • Lead the QHSE agenda across a multi‑site contract: set objectives, drive engagement and embed a culture of prevention and continuous improvement in line with our Road to Zero philosophy.
  • Provide expert advice and leadership to the Senior Operations Director, BU Head of QHSE and site management teams; influence internal and external stakeholders to uphold and elevate standards.
  • Promote and drive a safety‑engagement culture, improving performance through the implementation of relevant management systems, current standards and legislation; maintain a safe and healthy working environment by identifying and controlling risks, thereby preventing accidents and work‑related ill health.
  • Build communication and engagement: run communications plans, forums and town halls; ensure safety is a standing agenda item in business meetings; chair/coordinate Site QHSE Committees.
What You Need to Succeed at GXO
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a QHSE senior leadership role within a relevant industry, with multi‑site leadership experience in a matrix environment.
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent level 6 qualification in Health & Safety) as a minimum.
  • Deep knowledge of UK H&S legislation, compliance, audits and governance (including RIDDOR, Dangerous Goods and Road Risk).
  • Strong stakeholder influence and communication skills; confident operating with senior leaders, enforcement authorities and customer auditors.
  • Data‑driven approach to performance management: KPIs, dashboards, trend analysis and action tracking.
  • People‑focused leadership: able to coach, develop and support site‑based QSHE teams, building engagement and accountability.
