Working as a Vehicle Prepper involves preparing repaired panels and vehicles for painting and polishing to a high standard, ensuring all vehicles are finished to the customer’s complete satisfaction. You’ll be responsible for sanding, masking, polishing, and final finishing work, readying vehicles for the paint and refinish stages of repair.
A degree of flexibility will be required, and additional or alternative duties may be requested from time to time, both at your normal place of work and other Vella Group locations. You may also be asked to attend relevant training courses to support your development.
Duties And Responsibilities- Prepare vehicles for the paint process by sanding, masking, and cleaning panels to the required standard.
- Carry out polishing and finishing operations on completed paintwork to remove defects such as dust inclusions, runs, or imperfections.
- Use appropriate tools, compounds, and equipment to achieve a high-quality finish.
- Work in line with company and manufacturer standards, Thatcham and Insurance Company guidelines, and BS 10125.
- Maintain all tools and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
- Ensure all safety precautions are followed, including correct use of PPE and safe handling of materials.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices, including the proper disposal of waste materials and keeping work areas clean and organised.
- Inspect and protect vehicles during the repair process to prevent further damage.
- Report any damaged or missing parts to the Estimator or Site Manager immediately.
- Carry out work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
