Overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for a full time Ambulance Care Assistant to join our team based in Worcester. An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you’ll be helping someone in need, making their lives easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a real sense of achievement.
Your main responsibility will be transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This can be carried out as two-person crews or alone, so it is vital to hold a full UK driving licence and to have a good degree of physical fitness.
We have two full time rota patterns available:
- 4 on, 4 off (days)
- 5 x shifts a week (rolling rota covering variable days including some weekends)
We are unable to make amendments to the rota e.g. part-time or set shifts. Please only apply if you can commit to one or both of these rota patterns.
Responsibilities- Transporting service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities, in two-person crews or alone.
- Assist with the transportation of ‘end of life’ service users with empathy and professionalism.
- Build rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
- Lift, secure and help service users in and out of the Ambulance; transfer patients between beds, stretchers and chairs as required.
- Assist with handing over patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family members at home.
- Assist service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
- Ensure the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy.
- Committed to patient care.
- Effective communicator, able to handle emotional circumstances.
- Calm, considerate, careful driver with no more than three penalty points on your licence.
- Natural flair for teamwork and collaboration.
- Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
- Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
- Ability to work flexible shifts.
- Familiar with the local and surrounding area.
