Job Summary:

Using your clinical experience and skills you will work within the endometriosis and pelvic pain team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care and support the provision of specialist nursing advice to patients and families.

Acting with compassion, you will put patients at the centre of all you do.

You will communicate effectively with patients and their carers regarding their care and educate patients where there is a need.

You will communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure high quality patient care.

You will show commitment to sustaining and developing your clinical competence and professional awareness.

You will provide supervision, support, and education for unqualified staff and students.

This role will require you to work variable hours to fulfil the needs of the service.

Key Duties:

Within your sphere of knowledge and experience, you will respond to patient and health care professional email enquiries made via the endometriosis service generic email account and, where necessary, arrange appointments with the Lead Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain CNS. You will provide support in arranging the MDT meetings and joint MDT clinics, assist with triaging of referrals for MDT discussion, compile a structured list, request external PACS images and reports, type outcomes during the meetings, coordinate care across speciality teams.

You will assist with arranging the support group four times a year, developing a programme of speakers, create literature to promote the groups and send out invites.

You will assist with publicising Endometriosis Friendly Employer scheme locally, promoting awareness through social media, posters, the intranet, primary care.

You will contribute to development of patient information leaflets You will assist patients enquiring about re-referral back to secondary care or via the Patient Initiated Follow-Up pathway.

You will communicate effectively with patients and family/carers in an empathetic manner, conveying sensitive and complex information when needed.

You will safeguard vulnerable adults.

You will participate in preceptorship programmes as appropriate and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor/role model to less experienced staff.

You will educate patients, and their families as required where a need has been identified, including information on adopting a healthier lifestyle.

You will complete patient documentation correctly and contemporaneously.

You will communicate effectively members of the multi-disciplinary team and other health care professionals.

You will be responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in accordance with NMC requirements and to maintain a professional portfolio with evidence of reflective practice.

You will assist in the training and development of student nurses and health care assistants and complete training as required acting as a resource for endometriosis information.

You will contribute to research, development programmes and trials within the endometriosis service, and provide patients with further information You will contribute to the setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care and be accountable for maintaining standards.

You will participate in the handling of complaints in accordance with Trust policy.

You will maintain a safe, clean clinical environment adhering to local IPC standards You will document care contemporaneously in accordance with the NMC Code.

You will show an awareness of budgeting, exercise care and economy in the ordering and use of equipment.

You will assist in the assessment of staffing requirements, report problems to the appropriate manager.

In the absence of the Lead Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Nurse you will triage patient contacts to the service referring them to the appropriate clinicians.
