The Avionics Technician is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and installation of aircraft avionics systems during heavy maintenance events (C‑checks and D‑checks) within an MRO environment. The role requires advanced fault isolation skills and strict adherence to approved maintenance data and Transport Canada regulations.
Responsibilities- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft avionics systems, including NAV, COM, FMS, EFIS, autopilot, radar, and flight control systems.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting using wiring diagrams, schematics, BITE, and test equipment.
- Remove and install LRUs, avionics components, and wiring harnesses.
- Perform tasks during C‑checks and D‑checks in accordance with AMM, IPC, SRM, and Engineering Orders.
- Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams accurately.
- Record all work performed in the MRO maintenance tracking system.
- Ensure full compliance with SMS, quality, and safety standards.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Avionics Technician.
- Proven experience in heavy maintenance within an MRO environment.
- Experience on commercial transport aircraft (DHC 8/Q400, DHC
6). - Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Familiarity with Transport Canada regulatory requirements.
- AME (E licence) or equivalent certification is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
