- Salary: £7.55 an hour
- Working Week:
Monday 8:40am – 3:30pm, Tuesday 8:30am – 4:45pm, Wednesday 8:40am – 3:30pm (4:45pm every other week), Thursday 8:30am – 3:30pm, Friday 8:40am – 3:30pm including a 30 minute break - Hours:
33.5 hours per week - Online apprenticeship training supported by our skilled tutors

As a SEND Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support the delivery of learning and the development, wellbeing and independence of pupils with special educational needs. You will provide targeted support to individuals and groups, help pupils access the curriculum, and contribute to a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment while developing key classroom, care and behaviour management skills.
MainDuties
- Support individual pupils and groups to access learning safely and effectively
- Meet pupils’ physical, emotional, medical and personal care needs in line with school policies, including bathroom management, dressing and undressing, teeth cleaning etc
- Assist with classroom learning activities, including literacy and numeracy support
- Help plan, prepare and adapt learning activities and resources
- Monitor, record and report pupils’ progress, needs and behaviour
- Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans and programmes designed by external professionals
- Promote pupil independence, self-esteem and positive behaviour
- Assist with supervision in classrooms, around the school, and on activities such as PE, swimming and educational visits
- Maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, colleagues and other professionals
- Uphold school policies, routines, ethos and safeguarding requirements
- Participate in training and ongoing professional development
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable and eager to learn. They will enjoy working with children, demonstrate a positive attitude and be committed to developing their skills within a school environment.
Skills and Experience- GCSEs at grades A*–C / 9–4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- Previous experience working with children
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and use initiative when appropriate
- Enthusiastic, reliable, and professional approach
- Punctual and committed to personal development
As an apprentice, you will receive support through both on-the-job learning and formal training as part of your apprenticeship programme. This will typically include:
- Study towards a relevant qualification, Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant Diploma.
- On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced professionals.
- Regular review meetings to track progress and development.
