Introduction
Are you an experienced and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding 1:1 support role within a primary school setting?
A supportive and inclusive primary school in Worcester is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work with a Year 6 pupil with Autism and challenging behaviours. This is a class-based role, starting after the February half term and continuing until the end of the academic year.
This role is ideal for an SEN TA who is confident supporting pupils with Autism, emotional regulation needs, and behaviours that challenge. You will provide consistent, structured 1:1 support to help the pupil access learning, manage behaviour, and prepare for transition to secondary education.
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team to implement tailored strategies and ensure the pupil feels safe, supported, and included within the classroom environment.
Responsibilities- Providing 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil with Autism and challenging behaviours.
- Supporting the pupil within the classroom environment to access learning.
- Implementing behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
- Supporting engagement, focus, and positive social interactions.
- Assisting with differentiated tasks and adapting activities as needed.
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo to follow support plans.
- Promoting independence while maintaining appropriate levels of support.
- Ensuring the pupil’s safety and wellbeing at all times.
- A minimum Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs.
- An understanding of a range of SEN needs across the primary age range.
- A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Competitive daily rate, from £88.92 to £100 per day.
- Holiday Pay – PAYE candidates accrue 12.07% of their day rate.
