The Town of Eastham is seeking a motivated, dependable CDL A Rolloff & Solid Waste Truck Driver to support operations at our busy Transfer Station. This is an opportunity to work with a great team, operate a variety of equipment, and contribute to the efficiency, cleanliness, and safety of our community.

While this position supports various Public Works functions, the primary focus will be:

Driving Rolloff and Solid Waste Trucks

  • Transporting rolloff containers between the Transfer Station and disposal sites
  • Safely maneuvering heavy vehicles in tight and busy environments
  • Relocating rolloff bins and trailers inside the Transfer Station
  • Operating hydraulic equipment, compactors, and related systems

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys independent work, the satisfaction of physical tasks, and the responsibility of operating large vehicles and equipment with safety and precision.

Depending on operational needs and seasons, you may also assist with:

  • General Transfer Station operations, customer interaction, and scale work
  • Highway and grounds maintenance (roads, beaches, parks, cemeteries)
  • Operating heavy and light equipment such as loaders, backhoes, sweepers, and plows
  • Snow removal and sanding during winter months
  • Basic equipment care and routine maintenance
  • Supporting Public Works projects across town

Qualifications: The recommended qualifications are a high school diploma or equivalent,
CDL-A with required endorsements (
Tractor Trailer required; 26,000# endorsement), Massachusetts Hoisting License preferred (2A, 4E, 4G), three years of related experience in construction, public works, trucking, or equipment operation, ability to perform moderate to strenuous physical work and you must be team player with a passion for public service. Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position. The salary range for this position is $29.62 to $40.60 per hour contingent upon experience and qualifications, with the scale increasing on July 1, 2027, to $32.14 to $44.09 per hour. In addition to competitive salary, this position is eligible for: comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance; employee assistance and wellness programs;

participation in the Barnstable County Retirement System and generous paid time off, including vacation days, personal days, and holidays.
