Duration: 12 months (With Possibility of Extension) Description
The Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine (BGM) is looking to recruit a highly skilled and self-motivated scientist with experience in protein analytical techniques used to characterize biologics discovery
. Ideally, the successful candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in the biotech/biopharmaceutical industry or in an academic environment, preferably with SPR experience. As a Scientist, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the development and execution of SPR assays used within the group to identify therapeutic molecules and to characterize their target-binding properties
. The main responsibility will be to perform SPR screening and kinetic characterization assays in advancing biologics project supporting the pipeline. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of several analytical techniques (such as ELISA, MSD, cell based and SPR
) used to characterize antibodies in the drug discovery process and identify best in class biologic drugs to treat human disease and bring benefits to patients, in a variety of areas, such as immunology, oncology, neurology and virology diseases. The candidate must have a proven track record of delivering high quality experimental data, expertise in conducting SPR assays would be a plus.
The Scientist will be expected to represent Protein Sciences (PS) and BMIG (Bio Molecular Interaction) group and present their data in project team meetings. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated scientist to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative and innovative setting.
- Conduct Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) Biacore assays to generate selection criteria for panels of antibodies, multi-specifics, and antibody-like biologics
. - Experience in applying Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) to biological interactions - Octet, KinExA, high throughput automated liquid handling, analytical assays, biotherapeutics or antibodies - would be a plus.
- Execute high-throughput epitope binning of monoclonal antibodies.
- Conduct antibody Fc characterization studies to support regulatory submissions.
- Analyze, document, and report data in a concise manner, ensuring timely delivery.
- Present work internally and across groups, as necessary.
- Proven ability to independently execute and interpret experiments.
- Multi-tasking in a high pace group, running samples on multiple automated biosensor instrument
- The candidate should be eager to meet aggressive timelines, to timely advance biotherapeutics supporting pipeline.
- Direct experience with biologics, monoclonal antibodies, and/or protein therapeutics is desired.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- A goal-oriented team player with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a strong can-do attitude, and the capability to excel in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience in any of the SPR technologies:
Biacore, Octet, KinExA
. - Familiar with working with Monoclonal Antibodies (IgGs), Multi-specific molecule formats
. - Some knowledge in understanding analytical techniques for biologics: such as ELISA, cell-based assay.
- Some knowledge in understanding analytical techniques in characterizing proteins
: such as SEC, MS, DSF etc.
- Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biology
, or related fields. - Lower experience can be considered for Biologist I.
- Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functionally with partners outside of the team to enable high performance.
- Learns fast, grasps the “essence” and can change course quickly when indicate.
- Raises the bar and is never satisfied with the status quo.
- Creates a learning environment, open to suggestions and experimentation for improvements.
- Embraces the ideas of others, nurtures innovation, and manages innovation to reality.
