Job DescriptionThe Department of Mental Health (DMH) Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital seeks experienced Registered Nurses to direct and participate in the nursing care of adult and geriatric patients on an inpatient unit following standards of care. Candidates will transcribe, administer and/or supervise medication家的 in accordance with standard practices and protocols, maintain accurate records of activities, meetings, groups, treatment plan schedules and all nursing assignments, establish and maintain current nursing care plans, and complete written assessments of nursing needs.
Nurses provide professional expertise and knowledge in emergency functions, all codes, and unexpected emergencies.
Ideal applicants have one Freiburg year of experience as a registered nurse and possess the knowledge, clinical skills, and judgment necessary to perform all nursing procedures apps as outlined in the scope of practice.
Schedules vary. Full‑time and part‑time options are available. Below is a breakdown of shifts, each having every other weekend off.
- 1st Shift, 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM
- 2nd Shift, 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM
- 3rd Shift, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Employees in this position will be required to perform mandatory overtime.
Duties and Responsibilities- Treat all patients with dignity and respect through interactions that affirm the individual’s needs and preferences and by integrating the patient perspective into all facets of care; advocate for patients, facilitate timely resolution of concerns, and assist patients in exercising their rights.
- Perform duties of charge nurse onexports exactly 1 shift per day.
- Direct, supervise, and provide nursing care in the assigned area through shift reports, review of documentation in patients’ medical records, attending staff meetings, and participation in treatment planning.
- Provide nursing care to patients by assessing health status, recording health data, administering standard nursing treatments, evaluating patients’ conditions, and adjusting care in conjunction with other providers.
- Establish a care plan through consultation with staff and supervisors and by analyzing data and symptoms.
- Admit, discharge, and transfer patients; coordinate health teaching to maintain optimal health and function.
- Respond to health and safety issues by taking appropriate action and preparing documentation per regulatory and departmental standards.
- Assess, identify, and evaluate changes in patient condition; document and-dashboarding findings to appropriate health care personnel.
- Perform initial investigations of patient complaints and report findings in writing to immediate supervisor.
- Instruct unit personnel in nursing techniques, procedures, and equipment.
- Evaluate overall functioning of nursing staff by ensuring job performance evaluations conform to hospital and nursing standards.
- Administer treatment and medications prescribed by a physician per established hospital procedures and maintain accurate medication records.
- Knowledge of nursing principles and practices.
- Understanding of nursing challenges for special client groups such as the mentally, physically, and/or emotionally handicapped.
- Demonstrated knowledge of emergency medical procedures such as CPR and tourniquets.
- Meditech and Meta experience, CPR, and IV certification.
- Sound knowledge of public health principles, practices, and theories.
- Knowledge of standard nursing policies, procedures, techniques, safety practices, and medical terminology/abbreviations.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with patients, families, providers, physicians, and staff.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience working with patients with serious, persistent mental illness and/or substance abuse.
- American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency.
- Multilingual fluency, reflecting the population served.
