Mental Health Counselor-Pediatrics — Salary range: $60,000–$65,000
, plus a $6,000 sign-on bonus
.
Provides outreach or community-based outpatient mental health and/or substance abuse services to individuals, groups, families and couples committed to helping those we serve reach their individualized wellness goals. Uses a range of techniques based on experiential relationship building, dialogue, communication and behavior change designed to improve the mental health of the person served, or to improve group relationships (such as in a family).
A blend of Telehealth, Outpatient, and In-home services for adults and children.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below:
- Billable Functions
- Conduct psychosocial assessments to document history and identify preliminary issues for treatment by interviewing the person served and documenting information for records.
- Provide individual, couple, family and/or group therapies and family supports and crisis interventions using treatment modalities per state/local contract and licensing standards.
- Provide outreach or community-based outpatient mental health and/or substance abuse services to individuals, groups, families and couples.
- Provide mental health consultation to stakeholders and treatment team members (may or may not be billable based on contract).
- Develop individualized treatment plans in coordination with the interdisciplinary team, including related agencies and case managers as applicable.
- Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team on treatment initiatives and discharge planning, including aftercare needs and community resources.
- Attend treatment team staffing and level of care meetings as required.
- Conduct educational groups for persons served, families and foster parents; provide in-services to ensure skills align with treatment plans, including home-environment relevance.
- Prepare and train the family to resume care of their child (if applicable to the population served).
- Conduct regularly scheduled face-to-face meetings with the person served and caretaker (if applicable) to monitor progress and discuss treatment strategies.
- Non-Billable Functions
- Maintain current, legible medical record documentation for the person served, including relevant outside agency documentation.
- Attend regular staff and clinical meetings, training, and one-on-one sessions with direct supervisor to review cases.
- Attend court hearings as directed by subpoena.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education: Master’s Degree in a health and human services field.
Massachusetts: Must have a Master’s degree in social work, counseling or clinical psychology or closely related field in Health and Human Services. Must have completed a full-time clinical internship in a mental health setting. License-eligible preferred. Social Workers must be in the process of applying for licensure as a Certified Social Worker (LCSW).
Other: Current driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Physical RequirementsLight work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires greater exertion than sedentary work, the job is rated for light work.
