ScheduleTuesday‑Saturday, 12:00 PM–8:30 PM (40 hours weekly)
Job SummaryResponsible for providing individual, group, and family counseling. Conduct clinical assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge planning, and care coordination for new patients and ongoing assessments. The Lead Counselor demonstrates expertise in therapeutic interventions, treatment modalities, and evidence‑based practices. Under the direction of the Clinical Director and Program Manager, the Lead Counselor trains new counselors, ensures consistent documentation, reviews workflow, leads shift reports, and assigns responsibilities in the absence of a Program Manager.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Provide interventions, assessments, treatment planning, triage, and individual/group counseling.
- Initiate and provide family counseling services.
- Provide clinical services to all patients on caseload and assist others as assigned.
- Provide training to new hires and assigned interns.
- Round on all units in the evening to ensure shift workflow.
- Coordinate and schedule evening commitments.
- Participate in weekly supervision team meetings and program staff meetings.
- Ensure documentation meets contract, licensure, accreditation, and contract standards promptly.
- Communicate efficiently with other departments to ensure best care for patients.
- Provide clinical services to inpatient adult population.
- Abide by state department standards, facility accreditation, and policies.
- Demonstrate dependability, adaptability, and maintain confidentiality of patient and company information.
- Abide by HIPAA, 42
CFR Part 2, and maintain a therapeutic milieu. - Intervene in crisis to deescalate situations and resolve crises, using events as entries into the therapeutic process.
- Diagnose substance use disorder and co‑occurring psychiatric disorders within scope of practice.
- Serve as primary point of contact for clinical or behavioral concerns when Program Manager is unavailable.
- Communicate and collaborate with the Program Manager regarding patient or staff concerns.
- Complete outcome measures, review safety plans, obtain collateral input, and develop behavior‑based treatment plans.
- Conduct family sessions, daily group counseling, and prepare treatment team summaries.
- Assist with placement and discharge planning, involve EAP/employer when appropriate, and coordinate with outside agencies.
- Arrive for work on time and adhere to attendance policies.
- Treat patients, visitors, and colleagues with dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity.
- Support patients’ recovery during inpatient stay, using trauma‑informed approaches and motivational interviewing.
- Facilitate educational and support groups.
- Provide required reports and maintain knowledge of AdCare’s continuum of care.
- Model pro‑social behaviors and enforce program rules respectfully.
- Address patient non‑adherence promptly and appropriately.
- Adhere to program schedule, attendance, and coverage needs.
- Attend all required meetings and participate in supervision.
- Prioritize tasks and responsibilities, completing duties within allotted time.
- Maintain interpersonal skills and knowledge of recovery support groups.
- Show honesty and integrity in patient care and use of facility property.
- Assist with crisis management, emergencies, and maintain knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Participate in all required trainings and perform other related duties as assigned.
