Description and Responsibilities

Open Sky’s Acquired Brain Injury programs serve adults with acquired brain injury and physical or developmental disabilities who are referred by the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission. These programs provide individualized services to help participants live independently in their own apartments. Our services include finding accessible housing, coordinating healthcare, supervising PCAs and arranging for transportation when needed.

The Awake Overnight Counselor provides guidance, support, and performs various levels of activities of daily living during the overnight hours. By implementing procedures that ensure the health, safety, and well‑being of individuals, counselors help individuals live a healthy, productive, and independent life. Counselors are strong advocates for individuals served, believe in the power of community, and acknowledge the importance of community integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support and direction for individuals requiring nighttime assistance.
  • Assist with limited personal care, which may include occasional lifting, medication administration (with training), documentation, transportation, behavioral intervention, role modeling, and recreational activities.
  • Assist individuals to access and/or provide transportation.
  • Review and complete all required documentation.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record, required.
  • Reliability, willingness to learn, and being open to new opportunities.
